Course Summary

This supportive, women-centered course is the perfect starting point for those ready to begin their firearms and personal protection journey. In a welcoming environment, students will receive expert guidance as they learn how to safely operate a handgun, understand its function, and develop the fundamentals of accurate shooting.
With classroom instruction and guided live-fire exercises, you’ll leave this course with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to take the next steps in your self-defense journey.

Course Description

This is Module 1 of the USCCA Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals series and is perfect for new shooters or those returning to the range.

You’ll learn:

  • Your personal “why” for self-defense
  • The Four Universal Firearm Safety Rules
  • The Seven Shooting Fundamentals
  • How to safely manipulate a pistol, clear a pistol, load/unload a magazine and a pistol, and shoot a pistol
  • Safe handling techniques through dry-practice in the classroom
  • How to apply all you’ve learned in a live-fire session on a live-fire shooting range

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed specifically for:

  • Women who are brand new to firearms
  • First-time shooters looking for a safe and structured introduction
  • Anyone ready to take their first step toward self-reliant protection
No experience? No problem. You’re in the right place.

Course Prerequisites

None! This course is tailored for absolute beginners. All you need is a willingness to learn, a good attitude, and a desire to become confident and capable in your personal safety.

What to Bring

  • Serviceable handgun (semi-auto preferred, revolvers welcome!)
  • Minimum of 2 magazines or 3 speed loaders
  • Magazine or speed loader pouch
  • Sturdy gun belt (not a fashion belt—must support your holster & gear)
  • 250 rounds of ammunition
  • Electronic hearing protection (required)
  • Eye protection
  • Notebook and pen
  • Snacks, water, and lunch if desired
  • A positive, coachable attitude

Our class fees are non-refundable.

However, you may reschedule once at no additional charge with sufficient advance notice. Rescheduling with less notice will incur a rescheduling fee.

No-shows cannot be rescheduled.

To reschedule, please contact us in advance with your preferred future class date, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

We may cancel classes at at any time, and participants will be rescheduled to the next available session, which may be at a different location.

Refunds are not available under any circumstances.
