NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT)

Course Overview

Since 1871, one of the National Rifle Association’s core missions has been to provide education and training in the safe and proper use of firearms.

The NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Course builds on that legacy by preparing future instructors to teach others the safe, responsible, and effective use of firearms. While knowing how to shoot is essential, knowing how to teach others to shoot safely and effectively is what truly defines an NRA Instructor.

This course helps you develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude required to organize, manage, and teach NRA Basic Firearm Training courses confidently and competently.

Please note: The NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) Course must be completed once every two years to maintain active instructor status.
